Milestones Area Agency on Aging

We care for you because you care for others.
DO YOU help your spouse, a relative or a friend who needs assistance with basic activities of daily living?

DO YOU help with rides to the doctor, shopping, meals, bill paying, bathing, grooming, dressing, housekeeping, walking or transferring to a wheelchair, managing medications or arranging services to be provided by others?

ARE YOU a grandparent or older adult relative who is raising a child other than your own?
If Yes, You Are A Family Caregiver
52 million are . . . caring for loved ones, juggling work and family along with caregiving responsibilities. Caregiving can be very demanding and stressful. Caregivers often underestimate the time required for caregiving and the impact on their work and family obligations. It is important to get the help that you need. Milestones Family Caregiver Specialist understands the demands of caregiving and works to help caregivers explore options to lessen the caregiving burden.

WIAAA’s Family Caregiver Support Program offers information, support, and resources to assist caregivers (spouse, adult child with a disability, other relative, friend or neighbor) with their concerns related to caregiving and helps caregivers find solutions to their caregiving dilemmas. Whether arranging for services, e.g. respite care, transportation, etc., or helping families understand their options for care, the Family Caregiver Support Program gives caregivers access to the information and services that can help them in the often rewarding, sometimes challenging, role of caregiver.

The program offers the following for caregivers:

 Information about available services
Assistance in gaining access to services
Individual counseling, support groups and training
Respite care to help caregivers take a break from providing care
Supplemental services

For those wishing to connect with other caregivers in a supportive online community forum, WIAAA is pleased to offer the Caregiver Forum, powered by AgingCare.com. This is a nationwide group where you can ask questions, give answers, exchange messages and get support from other family caregivers who understand exactly what you’re going through.
